This weeks theme: Top Ten Scariest Looking Book Covers
They say don't judge a book by it's cover, but we all do. How can you not? Images evoke emotions.
Books I Have Read:
1. The Dinner: I picked this book up solely because of the cover. 2. Red Rain: I was so excited for this one and the cover was amazing. But it was more than disappointing.
3. The Black Dahlia: The story sounded so intriguing and the cover is so..so..I can't describe it. Even then, the book was disappointing.
4. The Devil in the White City: This book is just the Chicago World's Fair location, but with a touch of evil.
5. Dracula: What a face!
Books I Want to Read:
6. I Am The Cheese
7. I Hunt Killers
8. The Replacement
9. Haunted
10. Hush, Hush
Have you read The Replacement? That's the kind of cover that would pull me in actually. :) Great list.

I have not read that one yet, but I totally added it to my to-read list because of the cover as well! So eerie!
DeleteThat Black Dahlia cover is amazing, pity you found it so disappointing. The actual case is pretty horrific :S

The actual case totally fascinates me to no end. I really wish the book had focused on that and not the two bumbling cops.
DeleteOh yeah I could see how that'd suck. I think James Ellroy can be a little hit and miss with his writing.
DeleteThat Dracula cover...is that Christopher Lee on it?

Oh my goodness....I have never noticed that before. That is totally Christopher Lee! Thank you! This makes me want to watch him be Dracula again.
DeleteI have The Replacements on my list. I haven't read it yet, but I'm kinda looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteMe too! The more I look at that cover, the more I need to read it!
DeleteI've always loved the cover of The Replacements! I was so sad when I got the rubbish UK cover, because the US one is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe cover with the creepy dude just standing there? yeah, this one is way better!
DeleteThat Dracula cover is pretty intense - the one I have has a guy that looks like Bella Lugosi (might actually be him for all I know) and isn't that scary. Here's my TTT
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha ha ha, I never really found Bella Lugosi scary either.
DeleteGreat list! The Replacement seems to be very popular on people's lists this week (with good reason! Very terrifying)

Thanks! I noticed that too. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought so!
DeleteDracula is both creepy and scary at the same time. It is a classic that is always read and that will forever scare people. Great selection :)

I lived in Portland for six years and that city is OBSESSED with him (mostly because he lives there and always does appearances but super weird, like does signings but won't sign your book unless you come in a wedding dress, male and female). Its got some very unique writing. Love it!
