Making Up For Monday: Eating and Reading

It's time for Making Up For Monday!

Today's question is: Do you like to eat or drink anything while reading?  If so, what?

This question is totally dependent upon the time of year.  If it's cold outside, I prefer hot chocolate and maybe some cookies.  Yummy!

But if it's warm and sunny, skittles and glass bottled Coke seem to hit the spot just right!

Apparently I am NOT a health nut. Wah wah wah......

The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #3): 3 Stars

The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan

Here is another adventure of  Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. In this story, Camp Half-Blood seems to be at risk.  It is up to some hunters (Bianca and Zoe), Thalia, and Grover to save camp and Annabeth, who was taken. Percy finds a way to join them but without them knowing. They know that on this journey, one will be lost in a world with rain and one will fall by their father's hand.

This book was slower than the first two, but I was grateful to have Grover back on the journey. He is one of my favorites.

I once again listened to this one on tape, with narrator Jesse Bernstein. It was an awful read.  I can hear him reading and I feel like his emphasis is off from the author's intention. Also, he does a voice of the Pegasus that makes me want to rip my ears off.  It's like a neigh-talking.  Its so terrible.  Ugh....get a new reader!

The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #2): 3 Stars

The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Once again we join Percy Jackson and his adventures as a half-blood. Percy is at a new school where he is less than popular, but he did make one good friend. Tyson is a bit slow but he's nice and rather large. Both Tyson and Percy are attacked at school, but saved by Annabeth. They head off to Camp Half-Blood to help in the battle against Luke and the Titans who want to take down the Gods.

At Camp, Thalia, who "died" and was turned into a tree years earlier, is miraculously turned back into a human. We also learn that Tyson isn't just a regular human.  He is a cyclops and a son of Poseidon, making him Percy's half-brother.

Percy has been having weird dreams about Grover, who went on a quest to find Pan. Along with Annabeth, Tyson, and Clarisse, Percy heads out to save Grover, who seems to be trapped by a cyclops in "the sea of monsters", also known as the Bermuda Triangle.

This was another fun read from Riordan.  He has great sarcasm and wit in his tales that make them fun to read.
