Top Ten Covers I Wish I Could Redesign

Time for some Tuesday fun with The Broke and The Bookish's Top Ten Tuesday!

This week's theme: Top Ten Covers I Wish I Could Redesign

1. To Kill A Mockingbird: I realize that this a classic novel with several different covers.  I have never liked any of them. To me, they don't live up to the book, which is marvelous.

2. Animal Farm: This is also a classic with several different covers, again, none of which I have liked.

3. Fahrenheit 451: Ok, so apparently its only classic covers I seem to have an issue with.

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower:  This cover is just so....boring!

5. Angels and Demons: As with the last book, this is just boring.

6. The Shadow of the Wind: The kid on the book weirds me out, I am not sure why.

7. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: Another classic with many disappointing covers.

8. Never Let Me Go: I don't like up close faces.

9. Bridget Jone's Diary:  I have no words for this one.

10. Frankenstein: Yet another classic, yet another disappointing cover.

    1. I actually own the movie version, but don't consider that its real cover. I normally avoid the movie covers, but when that is the alternative, I'll take it.

  2. I completely agree with you about The Perks of Being A Wallflower. That very nearly made my list too.

  5. I have the movie cover for Never Let Me Go but yeah, the original cover seems uninspiring. lol not sure what they were trying to convey with that cover edition of Animal Farm...

    1. Right? I couldn't tell if they were like claw marks or what.

  6. Great list! I dislike close up faces on book covers, too. I do like the Frankenstein cover on the Dover edition of the man looking out over the mountains. It reminds me of how Frankenstein's creation spent so much time wandering in the mountains alone and how Frankenstein himself followed him all over the place, and kind of invokes that idea of deep loneliness that's a theme throughout the book.

    1. That cover was not that bad, and I can totally see why it works for the book.

  7. Great list! And I completely agree with all of them; so many boring covers & if they're not boring then they look kind of creepy. They say don't judge a book by it's cover, but you can't help it when the cover is so hideous! My TTT.

  8. I actually LOVE the Perks of Being a Wallflower cover! I know that it looks boring, but it sums up the story line perfectly. Also, I have not read Bridget Jones's Diary, but I don't mind the cover. I like the creative use of lined paper for the background of the face.

  9. I can't believe anyone ever approved that cover of Perks of Being a Wallflower! Such a strange colour.. and the way the picture is only tiny in the corner... very strange! Great list, I nearly put Animal Farm on mine too (different edition).

  11. This is part of the reason I love my e-reader so doggone much. I rarely see cover art anymore. That can be a bummer, but in many cases, a blessing... Of course, I can't hate on Perks... I got that book when I was 16 and angsty. Everything about the cover and the color and the story takes me right back. Too much nostalgia to be annoyed with it :).
