Making Up For Monday: Book Blogs

It's time for Making Up For Monday! This is a weekly meme hosted by me that asks some fun literary questions. Feel free to play along!

This week's question:  Do you read blogs based on books and if so, what do you like about them?

I absolutely read blogs based on books.  As someone who reads a lot, I am always looking for my next book to read (not that my to-be-read list isn't a mile long). I love finding out what others are reading and what they enjoy.

I also trust blogs for honest opinions. You always hear the positive for books because that is what the author is promoting. With bloggers, you get a real person's honest opinion of a book, good or bad. I like that I can trust them to tell me what they really thought.

And lastly, I love interacting with other readers just like me. Its often hard to find someone who has read a book I enjoyed in my own back yard, but I can usually find a blogger who has read it. I love te ability to talk to someone about the book I just finished, no matter what book I read.

What about you?

Top Ten Books I Wouldn't Have Read Unless They Were Recommended

It's time again for The Broke and The Bookish's Top Ten Tuesday.

This week we got to pick our own topic, and I decided on books I would have never read if someone didn't recommend them to me. These ten books I ended up loving!

1. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

 2. 1776 by David McCullough

 3. A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson

4. The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

5. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

6. Stiff by Mary Roach

7. Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett

 8. Batman Year One by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli

 9. Bel Canto by Ann Pratchett

10. I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

Sorry For the Long Delay

Some of you may have noticed that I suddenly disappeared and was no longer posting reviews or keeping up with my weekly meme. I promise I didn't just flake out and decide to stop blogging. Instead, my little princess decided to come a month early via emergency C-section.  We are both home and healthy now, so it'll be back to blogging in short order!
